State College Man Killed in Blair County Crash

A State College man died in a head-on collision early Tuesday morning on Interstate 99 in Blair County.

Joshua Russell Brown, 40, was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck northbound in a southbound lane at about 12:35 a.m. near mile marker 42.6 in Antis Township when he crashed into a Volvo tractor-trailer, according to state police at Hollidaysburg and Blair County Coroner Ray Benton.

The driver of the tractor-trailer attempted to steer into the median to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful, state police wrote in a crash report. After making impact, the tractor-trailer pushed the pickup about 180 feet south into the median.

Brown died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, Benton wrote in a statement.

The driver of the tractor-trailer had possible injuries but was not transported to a hospital, according to the crash report.

I-99 southbound between mile marker 45 at Grazierville and mile marker 41 at Bellwood was shut down for several hours on Tuesday morning following the crash.

PennDOT, multiple fire and EMS agencies and Burchfield Towing also responded to the scene.
